How to Play Ludo Online with Friends (2 to 4 Players)
To play Ludo online with friends, open Ludo on GameLake, tap Online, choose Play a friend, pick 2, 3 or 4 players and send everyone the same link. The game starts when every seat is taken, or press Start now with Hop and Hop the frog fills the empty seats. It's free, runs in the browser on any phone or computer, and nobody needs to download an app or make an account.
Set up a game with friends
- Open Ludo and tap Online next to Easy, Medium, Hard and Friends.
- Choose Play a friend, then how many players: 2, 3 or 4.
- Tap Share to send the link to a family group or chat, or Copy link. The preview reads something like "Ripple318 invited you to play Ludo".
- Each friend who taps the link takes the next free seat. The screen shows how many are at the table, for example "2 of 4 at the table".
- When every seat is filled the game starts by itself. If someone can't make it, the host can press Start now with Hop once at least one friend has joined, and Hop plays the empty seats.
All in the same room? Choose Friends instead of Online and pass one phone around, for 2 to 4 players on one screen.
How online Ludo works
The rules are the classic ones you already know from the board: you need a 6 to leave your pond, a 6 rolls again but three 6s in a row lose the turn, landing on a rival sends it home, stars and start squares are safe, and you need the exact number to reach home. Online, the die is rolled on GameLake's server, so nobody can fiddle the roll.
| Online Ludo | |
|---|---|
| Players | 2, 3 or 4 (Hop can fill empty seats) |
| Time per turn | 20 seconds |
| Run out of time | 3–4 players: Hop moves for you. 2 players: you lose the game |
| Someone leaves | In a 3- or 4-player game, Hop takes over their tokens |
| Lost connection | 30 seconds to come back |
| Who starts | Changes every game |
Quick match: play someone new
Want a game right now? Quick match pairs you with the next person looking for a Ludo game, for a two-player game. If nobody turns up within 20 seconds, Hop takes the seat. Wins against real people go on the Online tab of the leaderboard under the game.
Tips for beating friends
- Bring tokens out early. More tokens on the track means more choices for every roll.
- Don't stop one to six squares in front of a rival. That's exactly where any roll can land on you.
- Use the stars. A token on a star or start square can't be sent home.
- Capture the token that has gone furthest. Sending it home costs your friend the most.
- Mind the 20-second clock. Decide quickly: at a bigger table Hop moves for you when time runs out, and in a two-player game a timeout loses.
