Ping Pong

Arcade · Rally with Hop on a table floating on the lake.

Play Ping Pong free online against Hop the frog on a table floating on the lake. Slide your paddle, angle the ball off its edge, swipe to curve it and win the rally as it speeds up. First to 11 wins, by two clear points. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, play 2 players on one phone or keyboard, or play a friend online in real time.

How to play

  1. Drag anywhere on the table to slide your paddle. On a computer, move the mouse or use W/S or the arrow keys.
  2. Hit the ball back past Hop's paddle. Where it meets your paddle sets the angle: the middle sends it straight, the edges send it off to the side.
  3. Move your paddle as you hit to put spin on the ball, so it curves on its way. The rally gets faster with every hit.
  4. If the ball gets past a paddle, the other player wins the point. Serves swap every two points, and from 10–10 every point.
  5. First to 11 points wins, but you need a two-point lead. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, 2 players on one device, or Online.

Tips to win

  • Watch the side rails: a ball heading for the rail bounces off at the same angle, so move to where it will come back, not where it's pointing now.
  • Use the edges of your paddle. A ball that leaves at a steep angle is much harder for Hop to reach than one hit back down the middle.
  • Aim away from Hop. If his paddle is on the left, send the ball to the right side of the table.
  • After every hit, slide back towards the middle. From there you can reach a shot to either side.
  • In long rallies the ball keeps speeding up, so start moving as soon as Hop hits it.
  • Learning? Press Teach me: Hop draws the ball's path, a glowing spot where it will arrive and a ghost paddle where yours should be, with one line on why. The game slows down a little, and coached games are practice, so they don't count as wins.
  • Switch on the Classic look for a black-and-white arcade screen with blocky paddles, a square ball and big pixel numbers.

Questions

How do you play ping pong online?

Move your paddle so the ball bounces off it and back past your opponent. Drag on a phone, or use the mouse, W/S or the arrow keys on a computer. Win a point every time the ball gets past the other paddle; first to 11 with a two-point lead wins.

How do you put spin on the ball?

Move your paddle sideways at the moment it hits the ball. The faster you swipe, the more the ball curves on its way to the other side.

Can two players play on one device?

Yes. Choose 2 players: on a phone, player 1 drags in the bottom half and player 2 in the top half. On a computer the table turns sideways and player 1 uses W and S, player 2 the arrow keys.

Can I play ping pong online with a friend?

Yes. Choose Online, then Play a friend, and send the link. You both play at the same time on your own screens; the table keeps the score and judges every hit, so it stays fair even on a slower connection. Quick match finds you a random opponent.

How hard is Hop?

On Easy Hop is slow and often misjudges the ball, so it's a good place to start. Medium is a fair match, and on Hard he reacts fast, aims away from you and adds spin.

Is this ping pong game free?

Yes. Play free in your browser on phone, tablet or computer, with no download and no account.
