Word Search for Kids

Word · Big letters, short words and a picture for every word.

A free word search for kids, with big letters, short everyday words and a picture next to every word, so even early readers know what to look for. Themes include pets, farm animals, fruit, toys, colours and things that go.

How to play

  1. Look at the words at the bottom. Each one has a picture to help.
  2. Find the word in the letters, then slide your finger across it, or tap its first letter and then its last.
  3. When you find a word, it lights up and is crossed off the list. Find them all to win!
  4. 6 × 6 hides 4 words that only run across, from left to right. 8 × 8 hides 6 words that run across and down.
  5. Stuck? Tap Teach me and Hops the frog shows where a word starts.

Tips to win

  • Start with the 6 × 6 grid, then try 8 × 8 when it feels easy.
  • Look for the first letter of a word, then check the letters next to it.
  • Say each word out loud and point at its picture before you look for it.
  • Grown-ups: let your child do the dragging and help by reading the words together.
