Play Belote free online, the classic French card game, with Hops the frog as your partner against Pip and Shelly. Take the turned card's suit as trump or pass, follow suit, trump when you must, and call belote and rebelote with the King and Queen of trumps. The team that takes has to score more than the defenders or goes dedans. First team to 1000 wins (or 500 or 1500). Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, switch on annonces if you like, or play Belote online with friends.

How to play
- 32 cards, 7 to Ace. You and Hops (across) play against Pip and Shelly. Everyone gets 5 cards and one is turned up.
- Take the turned card's suit as trump, or pass. If all pass, a second round lets you name another suit.
- The taker gets the turned card and 2 more, the others 3 more. Play goes to the right.
- Follow suit. If you can't, trump, unless Hops is winning the trick. Over-trump an opponent if you can; on a trump lead, play higher.
- Trumps: J 20, 9 14, A 11, 10 10, K 4, Q 3. Other suits: A 11, 10 10, K 4, Q 3, J 2. Last trick +10: 162 in all.
- King + Queen of trumps: belote, +20. The takers must beat the defenders or go dedans (162 to the others). All 8 tricks: capot, 252.
Tips to win
- Take with the Jack of trumps and at least two more trumps, especially the 9 or the Ace. Without the Jack you need a very strong hand.
- When your team took, lead trumps early to pull out the opponents' trumps, then cash your Aces.
- When Hops is sure to win a trick, give him points: play a 10 or an Ace you can spare (charging).
- Don't lead a 10 while the Ace of that suit is still out: you'd hand the other team 21 points.
- Keep count of trumps: there are 8 in all. Once the Jack and 9 have gone, your Ace of trumps is the master.

How do you play Belote?
Belote is played by four players in two teams with 32 cards. After a round of bidding to choose trumps, you play 8 tricks, following suit and trumping when you can't. Card points add up to 162 per deal, and the team that chose trumps must score more than the other team. The first team to 1000 points wins.
What are the card values in Belote?
In trumps: Jack 20, 9 14, Ace 11, 10 10, King 4, Queen 3, 8 and 7 nothing. In other suits: Ace 11, 10 10, King 4, Queen 3, Jack 2, 9, 8 and 7 nothing. The last trick adds 10 points.
What does belote-rebelote mean?
If you hold the King and Queen of trumps, you score 20 points. You say belote when you play the first of the two and rebelote when you play the second.
What does dedans mean in Belote?
If the team that chose trumps doesn't score more points than the defenders, it is dedans: the defenders score all 162 points (plus any annonces). A tie is a litige: the defenders score theirs and the takers' points go to whoever wins the next deal.
What is a capot?
Taking all 8 tricks. The team that makes a capot scores 252 points instead of 162.
Are annonces included?
This Belote plays without annonces by default, like most online rooms. Switch them on before a game to score tierce (20), cinquante (50), cent (100) and four of a kind (100 to 200 for four Jacks).
Can I play Belote online with friends?
Yes. Choose Online, then Play a friend, and send the link. With four, it's two against two; with two or three, Hops and his friends fill the empty seats. Online games go to 500 points. Quick match finds you other players.
