Memory Match

ORIGINAL

Puzzle · Flip two cards, find the pairs: solo, against Hops, with friends or online.

Play Memory Match free online: turn over two cards at a time and find every matching pair. Pick a board from 6 to 18 pairs with pond critters or lakeside pictures, beat your best in Solo, take on Hops at Easy, Medium or Hard, play friends on one device or online, and try the same Daily board as everyone else.

How to play

  1. All the cards start face down. Tap a card to turn it over, then tap a second one.
  2. If the two pictures match, the pair is yours and you go again. If they don't, both cards turn back over, so remember where they were!
  3. In Solo, clear the board in as few turns as you can. Fewer turns earn more stars, and your best score for each board size is kept.
  4. Against Hops or friends, players take turns. Whoever has the most pairs when the last pair is found wins.
  5. The Daily board has the same 12 pairs for everyone that day, so you can compare turns with friends.

Tips to win

  • Start in a corner and work across the board in order: places in a row are easier to remember than a random scatter.
  • Name the pictures to yourself as they turn up (heron, top left; duck, middle) to remember them better.
  • If your first card's twin hasn't shown up yet, turn a card nobody has seen: you learn something new either way.
  • Watch Hops' turns too: every card he turns over is free information for you.
  • Stuck? Tap Teach me and Hops points to a pair you've already seen, or tells you which card to try.

Questions

How do you play the memory game?

Lay all the cards face down. On each turn, turn over two cards. A matching pair is yours and you play again; two different pictures go back face down. When every pair is found, the player with the most pairs wins.

How many cards are in a memory game?

Here you choose: 12 cards (6 pairs), 16 (8 pairs), 20 (10 pairs), 24 (12 pairs) or 36 cards (18 pairs). Small boards suit young children; 36 cards is a real memory workout.

Is the memory game good for kids?

Yes. Matching pairs trains short-term memory, concentration and attention, and the pond pictures need no reading. Start with 6 pairs and move up when it gets easy.

What is the best memory game strategy?

Turn new cards whenever you don't know a pair, and take the pairs you've already seen first. Remember the cards your opponents turn over, too.

Can I play the memory game with friends?

Yes. Choose Friends for 2 to 4 players taking turns on one device, or Online to play friends anywhere with a link or a code, or with a quick match.
