Farkle Scoring Chart: What Every Roll Is Worth

In Farkle, each 1 is worth 100 and each 5 is worth 50. Three of a kind scores the face value × 100 (three 4s = 400), except three 1s, which score 1,000. Four, five and six of a kind score 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000. A straight (1–6), three pairs, or four of a kind with a pair each score 1,500, and two triplets score 2,500. 2s, 3s, 4s and 6s score nothing on their own.

Singles: 1s and 5s

1s and 5s are the only dice that score on their own. That's why they matter so much: almost every roll that isn't a Farkle has a 1 or a 5 in it. A roll of 1, 5, 5, 3, 4, 6 scores 200 if you keep all three (100 + 50 + 50), but you don't have to keep them all.

Keep everything for 200 and roll three dice, or keep just the 1 for 100 and roll five.

Three of a kind and more

Three of a kind scores the face × 100, so three 6s are 600 and three 2s are 200. Three 1s break the pattern and score 1,000. Four, five and six of a kind score a flat 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 in the common modern rules, whatever the face.

A set and singles can be scored together from the same roll: 4, 4, 4, 1, 5, 2 is 400 + 100 + 50 = 550, with one die (the 2) left to roll.

The six-dice combinations

Four combinations need all six dice in a single roll, and they're worth a lot:

Six-dice combinations. Because all six dice score, each one also gives you hot dice: roll all six again.

Always look for the biggest combination first.

Scoring rules people get wrong

  • Sets don't build across rolls. Two 4s now and a 4 on the next roll is not three of a kind.
  • Every die you keep must score. You can't set aside a 3 to roll fewer dice.
  • A Farkle wipes the turn, not your banked total.
  • Hot dice keep the points. When all six dice have scored, you roll six again on top of what you have.

Scoring variations

Farkle's scoring changes a little from family to family. Common differences: three pairs worth 750, four of a kind worth double the three-of-a-kind score (four 4s = 800), five and six of a kind doubling again, and a 1,000-point penalty for three Farkles in a row. Whatever you choose, agree on it before the first roll.

Now that you know what scores, read when to roll and when to bank, check the Farkle rules, or play Farkle with the scoring done for you.
